Dental Implant Surgery

After the area is numbed with a local anesthetic, an incision is made into the gums so the implants can be placed at precise, strategic locations and angles in the jaw. Then, the gums are closed and protective caps are placed over the ends of the implants too keep them safe as the area heals.

Dental Implant Osseointegration & Abutment

The following three to six months after your surgery, you’ll rest and heal. This is important, as this period of time is when osseointegration occurs, which is a crucial step in the process. After the area the healed, you will need to undergo another minor procedure in which small metal connectors called “abutments” are placed on the ends of the implants. This is what your restoration will attach to. Impressions are taken and sent to the dental lab so your final restoration can be customized for you.
